Six young people from Étampes, aged 12 to 19, participated in a youth project organized by the City of Étampes, repainting the toilets at the Le Port elementary school.

Coming from the Saint-Martin, Vallée Collin, and Guinette neighborhoods, six young people from Étampes, aged 12 to 19, took part in a youth project organized by the City of Étampes through its Youth Information Service (SIJE). Their mission: to repaint the toilets at the Le Port elementary school. Supervised by Hervé Goguet, head of SIJE, they concretely contributed to the maintenance of a community facility while discovering the importance of civic engagement and collective work.

"This is a fine example that demonstrates concrete civic engagement and a certain learning of community life. Well done to you."

Gilles Bayart · Mayor of Étampes
Mayor Gilles Bayart met with them on Thursday, October 22, to commend their involvement. On Monday, October 26, the six participants were reunited in the presence of the mayor and his deputy Bésart Blakaj, who is particularly responsible for monitoring work in municipal buildings. This meeting allowed for the recognition of the work accomplished and congratulations to the young people for their investment. Each received gift vouchers worth €100 in recognition of their participation.
Beyond the award ceremony, this project highlights the value of giving young people the opportunity to get involved in local life, to take part in a useful undertaking for everyone, and to concretely measure their capacity to act for the community.
