The event, established in 1991, connects scientists with the general public. For 2026, the theme 'Savory Flavors' coincides with the centenary of the Michelin star and celebrates French gastronomic and culinary heritage.
The Science Village, the event's hub, will be located on the Pierre-et-Marie-Curie campus (Paris 5th arrondissement). After welcoming over 14,000 visitors in 2024, it will host school groups from Tuesday, October 6, to Friday, October 9, and then the general public on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, with free registration required for the weekend.
Over 380 scientists from the three faculties of Sorbonne Université—Arts, Health, and Sciences and Engineering—will lead more than 80 activities. Highlights include explorations of the neuroscience of flavors, fun and tasty chemical culinary experiments, tracing the global circulation of food and flavors, and archaeological reconstructions of past kitchens.
The event will span seven locations, including the Pierre-et-Marie-Curie campus, the Maison Poincaré (Paris 5th), the Cordeliers Research Center (Paris 6th), the Pitié-Salpêtrière campus (Paris 13th), the Saint-Antoine Research Center (Paris 12th), the Paris Institute of Astrophysics (Paris 14th), and the campus in Saint-Cyr-l'École in the Yvelines.
Pierre-Marie Chauvin, Vice-President for Arts, Sciences, Culture, and Society at Sorbonne Université, emphasized that sciences (and humanities) are present daily in our lives and deserve to be defended, discovered, and celebrated, calling this year's program 'highly appealing' and open to all ages.
