The mornings of Wednesday, September 23rd, and Thursday, September 24th, were marked by signaling incidents in a central area of Paris, notably affecting the RER D. These disruptions had significant consequences for passenger journeys.
On Wednesday, September 23rd, a signaling failure was detected at the start of service in the Paris Nord sector. The signaling system, crucial for safety and maintaining train distances, required technicians' intervention. After checks and repairs, completed around 7 AM, the repercussions were felt until late morning. During the intervention, traffic was severely reduced, forcing the teams at the Centre Opérationnel Transilien to adapt the transport plan in real-time and reorganize train and driver schedules.
On Thursday, September 24th, around 5:50 AM, a new signaling fault occurred at the exit of Paris Nord towards Châtelet – Les Halles, an area also used by the RER B. Shortly after, an alarm signal was triggered on a RER B train immobilized due to the presence of technical teams. Traffic was interrupted around 7 AM before resuming very gradually from 7:30 AM on the RER D, but accumulated delays severely disrupted journeys until late morning.
Faced with these degraded situations, the teams at the Centre Opérationnel Transilien managed the transport plan in real-time. In stations, agents worked to inform passengers and suggest alternative transport solutions. Technical and operational teams were fully mobilized to restore facilities and best assist passengers.
Real-time traffic information is available via the Île-de-France Mobilités app, the Transilien.com website, the SNCF Connect app, or individual mobility apps. The RER D is also experimenting with a new information channel on WhatsApp called Mon info trajet.
