In a world marked by crises, nearly 50 high school students from Île-de-France participated in the 2026 regional press drawing contest, themed 'Laughing Despite Everything.' This initiative, organized by the Region, allowed them to express their vision of society through humor, caricature, and satire.
For the second consecutive year, the 'Caricature & Democracy' contest invited high school students to develop their creativity and critical thinking. The winning drawings and their authors were honored on October 1, 2026, at the Region's headquarters in Saint-Ouen (93).
Students were free to submit their drawings, accompanied by a statement explaining their approach. A total of 44 high school students participated, demonstrating young people's interest in this form of expression that combines creativity, freedom of tone, and civic engagement.
The jury distinguished four young talents. The 2026 Grand Prize was awarded to Mathéo and Nicolas (Rabelais High School, Meudon - 92). The Message Prize went to Denis-Andrei (Gustave Eiffel High School, Rueil-Malmaison - 92). The Humor Prize was given to Léonide (Évariste-Galois High School, Noisy-le-Grand - 93), and the Achievement Prize to Alexa (Blaise-Pascal High School, Orsay - 91).
Three high schools were also recognized for their significant involvement: L’Essouriau High School in Les Ulis (91), Nicolas-Vauquelin High School in Paris (13th arrondissement), and Van-Gogh High School in Aubergenville (78). This distinction highlights the work of pedagogical teams in encouraging artistic expression and media education.
The jury included elected officials, journalists, and press drawing professionals, such as Valérie Pécresse, president of the Île-de-France Region, Yann Wehrling, vice-president, and Pierre Liscia, regional councilor.
