The Transition Institute 1.5 invites you to its 19th webinar, titled "Transport Electrification: Technology, Industry, and Sovereignty," to be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The session will be moderated by Nadia Maïzi, Director of TTI.5.
The presentation will cover transport electrification in France, detailing system needs and industrial capabilities, with a focus on batteries and electric powertrains. Andrés Tellez Ávila, research engineer at the Centre des Matériaux, Mines Paris – PSL, will explain the transformations related to this electrification, using data analysis and artificial intelligence methods.
Pauline Bucciarelli, TTI.5 post-doctoral researcher, will analyze the European battery sector in the face of decarbonization, reindustrialization, and strategic autonomy challenges. She will highlight the conditions and tensions associated with these objectives, as well as the importance of batteries in the European automotive value chain.
Romain Svartzman, head of the Macroeconomics and Environmental Policies unit at Bocconi University's Institute for European Policymaking, will present a research program on Chinese foreign direct investment in Europe, particularly in the battery and electric vehicle sectors. The goal is to strengthen European green industrial capacity without increasing its vulnerability.
The speakers, Andrés Tellez Ávila, Pauline Bucciarelli, and Romain Svartzman, bring expertise from their respective research at TTI.5 and recognized institutions such as Mines Paris – PSL, Bocconi University, and University College London.
