The Municipality of Esbly has been enforcing a smoking ban extended to the vicinity of places welcoming minors since June 29, 2025, in accordance with a national decree.

Following decree n° 2025-582 published in the Official Journal on June 28, 2025, it is now forbidden to smoke indoors and within a 10-meter radius around all places that host minors. This measure aims to provide a healthier environment for children.
The ban applies not only to educational institutions (nursery and primary schools, middle schools, high schools) but also to youth reception and activity structures, such as non-residential leisure centers (ALSH), after-school programs, and nurseries, as well as sports and cultural facilities for young people.
The rule applies inside the premises, including buildings, playgrounds, and outdoor areas, as well as around the entrances within a minimum perimeter of 10 meters from all public access points.
Non-compliance with this smoke-free zone constitutes a 4th class misdemeanor, punishable by a fixed fine of €135, which may be increased.
The Municipality calls for civic responsibility from everyone to respect these smoke-free areas, in order to ensure a healthy environment for children.
