On September 30, 2026, about fifteen companies and public stakeholders visited the Mahé Bioénergie methanation site in Boutigny. This visit, organized by the CCI Seine-et-Marne with GRDF and the Territoire d’industrie Nord 77 as part of the REMOOVE network, provided a concrete understanding of biomethane production and the solutions offered by green gas for decarbonizing businesses and territories.
Michel Mahé, a farmer and director of Mahé Bioénergie, explained the process of transforming organic matter into renewable energy. The site utilizes materials from livestock farming and other plant-based inputs to produce biogas, which, after purification, becomes biomethane that can be injected into the gas grid. This initiative aligns with a circular economy logic, diversifying agricultural activity while producing local renewable energy.
The implementation of the methanation unit required three years of work and an investment of 6 million euros. The site currently produces 19 GWh/year and has led to the creation of two jobs.
The meeting also facilitated discussions between companies and public stakeholders on available energy and environmental solutions in the region. Companies specializing in financing, waste sorting and recovery, and CO₂ capture technologies contributed to the exchanges. Local green gas production opens up various application fields, including the consumption of renewable energy, decarbonization strategies, and heavy mobility using bioGNV.
This event is part of the REMOOVE network's efforts, led by the CCI Seine-et-Marne, to inform businesses about energy mix solutions and connect them with actors capable of supporting their projects.
Seine-et-Marne is a major biomethane territory in the Île-de-France region, with 46 injection sites out of 802 in France. The department has the largest green gas production capacity in the region, accounting for nearly 48% of the annual gas consumption of its residents. The CapMétha77 charter, renewed in November 2025, aims to cover 75% of Seine-et-Marne's residential gas needs by 2030 and plans for 30 refueling stations for 6,000 heavy goods vehicles within five years.
Through the REMOOVE network, the CCI Seine-et-Marne continues its commitment to introducing companies to concrete decarbonization solutions and fostering exchanges with energy transition stakeholders.
