Since August 11, the Mairie de Lizy-sur-Ourcq has been asking residents to report drought-related damage, such as cracks, subsidence, or difficulties opening doors and windows. These reports are intended to build a case for requesting official recognition as a natural disaster from the state services.
State services have clarified that applications for natural disaster recognition due to drought can only be processed for a full calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. National expertise relies on the entire year's meteorological and geotechnical data. Therefore, the municipality will submit a collective application covering the entirety of 2026 in early 2027.
Residents who have already submitted a report do not need to take any further action; their file will be kept and included in the 2027 application. They can, however, update it with new dated photos if the cracks worsen.
The reporting period remains open until December 31, 2026. The reporting form is available at the town hall reception and on its website. It should be returned with dated photos of the damage, either in person at the town hall or by email to contact@lizy-sur-ourcq.com, with 'Recensement sécheresse' in the subject line.
It is also advised to report this damage to your insurance provider or to maintain an existing claim. Compensation for natural disaster can only be processed after an official decree is published in the Journal officiel, which will allow a 30-day period to declare the claim. The municipality will inform residents as soon as this publication occurs.
