The city of Tremblay-en-France presented a study on October 16th aimed at preserving urban biodiversity by mapping and connecting its natural spaces.

How to preserve urban biodiversity and allow animals to move between natural areas? These essential questions were at the heart of the study presented on Friday, October 16th at the Boris-Vian media library, before about fifty participants. The mayor Virginie De Carvalho, elected officials, residents, environmental associations, municipal agents, and the city's "Jardins solidaires" service, which is spearheading the project, were present.
Conducted in partnership with France Nature Environnement, this vegetation mapping study identified the commune's natural spaces to pinpoint habitats favorable to biodiversity and the connections between them. Sites such as Vieux-Pays, Parc de la Pointe Sud, the urban park, and along the Canal de l’Ourcq were examined, highlighting their role as well as that of green spaces in the business park and residential areas.
The study recommends concrete solutions for nature preservation, including developing local hedges and plantations, adapting green space maintenance, and facilitating small wildlife movement. It also suggests reintegrating nature into certain mineralized areas and better incorporating biodiversity into future developments.
Participants then discussed possible actions. This reflection will enable the City to select the most suitable approaches for its projects and study their feasibility. The final deliverable and a toolkit are expected by the end of November.
