The city of Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt inaugurated the Géomy3 geothermal plant on October 20, 2026, a major infrastructure project that now supplies renewable heat to the Parly 2 residential complex and several public buildings.

Tapping into natural heat from 1,500 meters underground, this facility marks a key milestone in the local energy transition. The heating network of Parly 2, Europe's largest residential complex, now incorporates 75% geothermal energy, reducing its reliance on volatile gas prices.
The 35 million euro project is supported by ENGIE, the Yvelines Department, the City of Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt, and the residential complex, with state funding via ADEME's Heat Fund. Beyond the residential units, the network serves the André-Mignot hospital, Guynemer school, Charles-Péguy middle school, the municipal swimming pool, and the town hall.
“

"The energy transition must produce concrete results for the residents."

Anne Père-Brillault · Mayor of Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt
The initiative will continue with the VerdY project, led by the Yvelines Department, which aims to extend renewable heat distribution to five municipalities by 2028: Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt, La Celle-Saint-Cloud, Noisy-le-Roi, Bailly, and Bougival.
