The City of Blanc-Mesnil has launched a general mobilization operation for street cleaning, bringing together citizens, elected officials, and municipal services in the south and center of the town.

As part of an initiative to raise awareness among residents of all ages about preserving their living environment, the City of Blanc-Mesnil has organized a major urban cleanliness operation. The southern and central sectors of the town were the first to be involved in these participatory actions.
On Sunday, September 20th, about a hundred residents and volunteer association members, accompanied by elected officials and thirty agents from the Municipal Technical Center (CTM) and EPT Paris Terres d’Envol, mobilized in the south of Blanc-Mesnil. Mayor Demba Traore emphasized the importance of everyone's involvement in maintaining the city's cleanliness. Necessary equipment, including vests, gloves, and bags, was provided by the municipality. This first morning of collection resulted in the removal of four tons of waste, filling four dumpsters.
On Sunday, September 27th, a similar action brought together about a hundred residents in the town center. Alongside Demba Traore and elected officials, 40 municipal agents worked with residents and association representatives. Some came as families, like Giovanna and Farid with their three children, highlighting the importance of commitment for future generations. Over three kilometers, between Pasteur, Pierre-Semard avenues, and Mozart or de la Libération squares, this collection gathered 10 tons of waste, including a 20 m³ illegal dumping site. Pascale, a member of the Pierre-Semard tenants' association, stressed the need for such initiatives to preserve the city and the planet.
In parallel, a weeding campaign has been underway since September 7th and will continue until mid-October. The Urban Cleanliness brigade of the CTM is overseeing the cleaning of sidewalks and roadways over 178 linear kilometers. Tony Le Minh, head of this brigade, stated that the objective remains the cleanliness of Blanc-Mesnil. Green waste is then recycled by EPT Paris Terres d’Envol. Residents also participate in this effort by maintaining the sidewalks in front of their homes, in accordance with the departmental health regulations of Seine-Saint-Denis.
Another operation involves the meticulous cleaning of the town's 400 street signs and indicator panels, carried out by the ProxiMesnil brigade of the CTM since September. High-pressure washing restores the shine to these elements of urban furniture.
The fight against illegal dumping is also a priority. Jean-Jacques Virion, head of the Cleanliness Watch brigade at the CTM, and six other agents are responsible for collecting waste abandoned by individuals unaware of the free, 7-day-a-week recycling center located on Anatole-Sigonneau street. The municipality is strengthening its resources to counter these incivilities and promote harmonious living in a clean and united city.
