During the official route presentation in Paris, it was announced that the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Leisure Island will be the starting point for the 21st stage. After covering over 3,000 kilometers, the peloton will once again visit the Yvelines, succeeding Thoiry, which hosted the event in July 2026. This will be the 87th time the Tour de France passes through the department.
The Yvelines, recognized as a cycling territory, benefits from this partnership with ASO, offering residents free access to one of the world's greatest sporting events. This start echoes that of July 23, 2023, when the final stage departed from the National Velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, home to the French Cycling Federation and the site of many triumphs during the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Nicolas Dainville, departmental councilor for the Trappes canton, expressed his pride: « Our canton is a true cycling land with the start of Paris-Nice in La Verrière in 2023 and the Élancourt hill for mountain biking, at the heart of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and its national velodrome. It is a pride to host the start of the final stage of the Tour de France here. »
The 21st stage, covering 116 kilometers, will lead riders from the Leisure Island towards Paris. The route will pass through Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Châteaufort, then Versailles before leaving the Yvelines at Viroflay to head for the capital.
The Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Leisure Island, located across the communes of Montigny-le-Bretonneux and Trappes, spans 600 hectares and offers various sports and nature activities, such as sailing, treetop adventure courses, and horse riding, as well as exploring its National Nature Reserve.
Furthermore, Magnanville will host the finish of the fifth stage of the Tour de France Femmes on Tuesday, August 3, 2027, marking the women's race's passage through the Yvelines.
